Insider CEO Henry Blodget on social media companies banning users

Shares of Twitter fell more than 6% Monday, which was its first trading session since suspending President Donald Trump's account. Investors are concerned the decision could hurt user engagement. Henry Blodget, CEO and co-founder of insider, joined "Squawk Box" on Tuesday to discuss social media policy shifts seen following the Capitol riots. Conservative pushback has consistently been mentioning the other side and the "what about them, him, her, this email, this, that, etc." There are several problems with this logic mainly being that it's hard to truly compare apples to oranges. I find it hard to believe that these companies wanted to silence conservative voices in this manner. Trump has to take responsibility for the vile mobilization of verified misinformation he's created with his social media accounts.

Since I am remaining silent (or relatively quiet) does that mean that I am a violent person who should be cancelled, cleansed, re-educated--(fill in the blank)? Or if I should opine that Black Lives Matter is an organization founded on Marxist revolutionary ideology and uses violence to achieve its aims does that exempt me from being seen as violent being that I am no longer silent? The very concept of this censorship so much in vogue at present is pathetic arrogance.

They caused deaths, they pillaged, they celebrated and cheered the corner neighbor for his leadership. Now no one on my side has a home. Not my neighbor the doctor, or the pharmacist or the nurse or the grocery store owner or the stewardess or the minister or the disabled veteran or the other six families that used to come to the neighborhood picnics. it was a "what if" question. which is what we need to worry about! just because FB allows a Shapiro to trend doesn't mean these companies can't suddenly decide to silence a population based on their beliefs! (you even heard him say "..based on lies"). well, obviously the truth is up for debate these days. there's a link to back up almost any claim. the powers that be don't get to decide what we want to expose ourselves to! some of us are grown adults who don't want mommy and daddy (FB and google) telling us what to watch, regardless of what side we're on!

@tommy audio I get your point in the first half. We see it a little differently, but I get it and respect it. The second half is exactly right, and I fully agree. Going back to the relationship example from earlier, sometimes leaving for a bit while the dust settles can help make the relationship stronger. I think I made it sound like I want complete division, which is definitely not the case. I'm rooting for a speedy recovery, and I think we're better off doing it from the ground up instead of relying on an answer from the government or big tech. BTW, if you have a SoundCloud link, I'll feed their algorithm a little bit for you

@Cuisin' with Kev i think there is a huge amount of gain from a GOOD social network. I'm a musician and being able to connect with ppl where THEY live is important, and makes it very difficult to "just leave". There are plenty of "small businesses" like me that want to stay on platforms, simply because that's where the rest of the world is. There are also just ordinary people that should be able to use these platforms wihout Mommy and Daddy controlling everything. Google/CNwill, Facebook, Apple, etc...could all be great places for us to "live" together. Unfortunately wh!te supremac!sts are blurring some serious lines right now. But it's entirely ironic to think institutions care about that, when many in positions of authority actually fit in with those mofos (I hope u kkknow what I mean, without me having to spell it outtt). I don't know the exact solution to this convoluted issue. But I don't think silencing entire groups of ppl because of conflicting views, or just because of a few (very bad) actors is the answer. Nor do I think leaving is the answer. If we silence a population or a protest movement it just makes it worse. Look at what happened after Colin Kap's cries for help went disregarded. His taking a knee was so offensive to people that he got fking fired. Well, ok, you don't peaceful protest? Have a riot then! The same goes for other side now. We all need to do better job of not just listening, but allowing someone's BELIEFS to be considered VALID. Maybe silencing so many voices is what's inciting violence (!?). I don't know, but the point tour making is like the rabbit hole of "you can just go vegetarian if you want animals to not be harmed". Everyone needs to do it together for it really to have the effect you want. Thanx for remaining civil while sharing your views.

@tommy audio An 80/20 positive relationship wasn't what I had envisioned with your original example; and we agree on that part. We actually agree on most of it, especially the part about establishing boundaries by leaving. There is nothing to gain from any of them at this point, yet they continue to profit from your participation. I know it's difficult to not see my responses as argumentative, but it is not at all meant to be that. I tried to write in such a way that my point is made without too much overexplaining, which sometimes has a negative effect. I removed a bunch because, while I understood what I meant, it would have required several paragraphs of writing to make sure my explanation didn't make me seem like an a*****e. I enjoy this sort of discourse; you made me see it from a different angle that I hadn't thought of prior. I hope I gave you a few things to consider as well.

    • tommy audio

@Cuisin' with Kev sometimes you are in a relationship that is 80 percent good, and you just need to work on the 20 that is bad for you. it's called laying boundaries. and if workers didn't unite decades ago, to establish basic rights for all workers now, we wouldn't have weekends off. sometimes you need to fight for your rights. just leaving is a cop out option. and believe me, you're talking to someone that does both. i will work on it until I need to leave. and usually leaving is also a form of establishing your boundaries. everyone has their own choices to make when that times comes. this isn't about me. it's about everyone. and they should all have the choice to learn what they want from whom they want, and to download whatever fking app they want. your solution is a cop out, no matter how much experience or knowledge you wanna tout about the subject.

@tommy audio Why would you stay in a bad job, relationship or living situation? Weak is the one who stays. What respect do you deserve from any of these platforms? I agree that people will eventually leave, but how much longer will they go on before they realize how much social media is used for social engineering? It's pretty easy to stir the pot using FB's ad platform without anyone even noticing. Based on your statement about Apple and Google deciding which apps to allow on their respective operating systems makes me think you probably weren't around at the advent of either, or at the very least, not paying much attention until now.

By certifying the stolen fraudulent elections each congressman, judge, dominion software personnel, state & local election official, is at the moment guilty of Treason & Sedition. There are still a few Supreme Court cases pending outcome of elections. If all the dead ppl votes, fake ballots, duplicate ballots, illegal alien ballots, Domonion software flipped votes to Biden et al, aren’t thrown out by the Supreme Court, then the perps will be brought swiftly to justice by US military arrest & detainment, each will be convicted of treason and sentenced to the death penalty or life in prison, since those are the only 2 options that exist for conviction of treason in USA. Military is already out conducting arrests & military tribunal trials now in secret. Small perps first. Don't forget, trump can use his press briefing room anytime he wants, 24/7 to talk directly to the American people. Also, He's the one that rolled back Obamas net neutrality laws that gave private companies the right to censor him as they please. Kinda like how he thought his increased punishments for vandalizing federal buildings was gonna go after BLM, the chickens have come home to roost.

If we allow them to unjustly censor/ban Trump all all social media platforms. Then we are opening the door for them to legally do the same to us therefore stripping us of our right to freedom of speech. Damn, we need to look at the bigger picture here instead of letting them distract us with racism.

In 2017, comedian Kathy Griffin tweeted a picture of her holding the severed head of the 45th President of the United States, Donald J. Trump. Admittedly, Twitter did in fact label this example as “potentially sensitive content,” but this did not stop Griffin from reposting her tweet on Instagram in June 2020. Nor did Twitter stop her from sharing it anew in recent weeks. Need more examples of Cyber Big Brother in action? In 2016, comedian George Lopez tweeted a picture of him holding Trump’s decapitated head, atop a ring of skulls. In 2017, Rosie O’Donnell retweeted a computer game called “Push Trump Off a Cliff Again.” Jim Carrey tweeted a drawing of Trump burning at the stake in 2018 with the hashtag BURNTHEWITCH.

Jesus Christ saves from sin. Romans 3: 23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Hebrews 9: 27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: Isaiah 64: 6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. Revelation 21: 8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. Romans 5: 8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. John 3: 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 14: 6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Romans 10: 9-10. That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Jesus said John 5: 24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. 1John 5: 10-13 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. Ephesians 2: 8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. Romans 8: 1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 1 Corinthians 15: 3-4 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: 2 Corinthians 5: 21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. ..................................................................................

Speech to incite violence is a BS claim. By agreeing this is a thing, you are saying that we are not mature enough to control our temperament and able to accept each other regardless of our thoughts. I work with many people that hate me because of my -political stance, but I don’t hate them. We should be defined by our actions and how we treat each other. Nothing else.
